Single Review by Andrew Sanders of Dear Untitled:

The protagonist is hiding in a dream world, a break out seems impossible. But even the darkest room can be lit by a candle: He realizes that the only way to overcome his pain and feelings is to let go.” – We Blame the Empire

Making a ferocious return with guns ablaze, We Blame the Empire follow up their 2017 full-length release, ‘These Waves Won’t Take Me’,  with the intense, yet  soothing single, “Silent Throne“, released January 27th, 2019. The talented quartet hailing from Vöcklabruck, Austria bring an immense amount of energy and emotion to every song they release. Recently signed to Monster Energy, there is no reason these guys can’t take the genre by storm and become an everyday name!

I’m not willing to try it out, but I am quite certain this banger passes the break-your-neck-from-headbanging test. This track is the epitome of groovy riffs meeting melodic cleans; just when you’re about to kangaroo kick the air, they bring you back down with a perfectly timed, catchy chorus.

Cause you’re the one who lives within
Within the dark and bright
We’ve never been that close my friend
Help me to see another morning light

Excerpt from “Silent Throne”

With Part One of this saga released as their 2018 single, “Silhouette” (Oct 26, 2018), Part Two of the story is revived within the recently released single, “Silent Throne” (Jan 27, 2018). The journey documents various times of loss and desperation within the heart of the piece. We were enlightened to the over-arching story line when speaking to the band this week regarding these two incredible pieces – “The protagonist is hiding in a dream world, a break out seems impossible. But even the darkest room can be lit by a candle: He realizes that the only way to overcome his pain and feelings is to let go.” The tantalizing riffs and serene moments of this track portray a vivid picture of this story which musically compliments the heavy emotion and tale threaded throughout. Vocally touching, yet invigorating, the layered screams die into the cleans with a tactful finesse. Perfectly blended and harmonious to a listener’s ear.

“The weights you carry
on your own
it lets you drown
but it can also let you grow”

Excerpt from “Silent Throne”

Within every situation is an opportunity to better yourself, a message that is conveyed throughout “Silent Throne“. Being able to come to terms with your anxieties and overcome your inner conflicts provides one with a chance to grow. During my first listen of “Silent Throne“, I couldn’t help but feel the pain echoing through each verse; a call for help – fully showcased and genuine to the plot. Certainly a commendable crafting.

This song is the complete package: breakdowns, crazy harsh vocals, smooth cleans, and bouncy riffs. With two extremely solid singles and a full (underappreciated) album under their belts, not only should We Blame the Empire be on your radar, they should be nearing the top of the list.

Check out the PART 1 and PART 2 tracks below and make sure to keep your eyes peeled for big things to come from We Blame the Empire!
